Welcome to this website about the conductor and composer, Peter Gellhorn (1912-2004). It aims to help you engage with his story of his life as a musician, and in particular with his compositions.
This website was originally created as part of Singing a Song in a Foreign Land, the Royal College of Music research and performance project highlighting the contribution of musicians who fled from Nazi Germany and Austria to musical life in Britain and beyond. It was made possible by the Cultural Engagement Project "Exile Estates and Music Restitution - The Musical Legacy of the Conductor / Composer Peter Gellhorn" supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council in 2016.
The website is now maintained by members of Peter Gellhorn's family.
